Partner, Not-For-Profit Services Team Leader
Becky Phillips is a Partner and the Not-For-Profit & Government Services Team Leader at MCM CPAs & Advisors, a CPA and advisory firm ranked as one of the Top 100 in the United States and the largest in Kentucky. In these roles, she leads audit services for not-for-profit organizations and local governments, and is a frequent speaker on topics related to not-for-profit organizations, governance and fraud. Becky advises exempt organizations on everything from strategic direction and effective use of resources to process improvement and board governance. Ms. Phillips is also in charge of large fraud detection and prevention engagements in a variety of industries.
In addition to her client service expertise, Ms. Phillips is also an active leader internally. As an equity partner and member of MCM’s Executive Committee until 2017, she has a hand in developing the overall strategic direction of the firm. She was a key executive during the large-scale merger of Mountjoy & Bressler and Chilton & Medley in 2010, and has since taken on leadership roles with MCM’s Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) and the Recruitment Committee, engaging the firm’s next generation in professional development.
Ms. Phillips is actively involved in the Louisville community, currently serving on the boards of directors and in the treasurer role for both the Louisville Zoo Foundation and the Center for Nonprofit Excellence. She is a long-time board member of Women 4 Women (where she was also a former board chair and integral in recruiting and introducing a new CEO), and additionally serves on the boards of Leadership Louisville Foundation and Metro Christian Legal Aid. Ms. Phillips also serves as a member of the U.S. Bank Advisory Board. She is a past president of the Kentucky Society of CPAs and formerly served on the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy. Ms. Phillips also served on the AICPA committee tasked with oversight of the audit section content of the National CPA exam. She previously served on the Finance Committee of Shively Area Community Ministries, the Board of Directors of Nativity Academy, the Finance and Audit Committee of the Community Foundation of Louisville, and she served as the treasurer of the City of Ten Broeck. In these roles, she has developed a wealth of experience in CEO recruitment, strategic planning, board governance, and accountability.
Ms. Phillips earned both her Bachelor’s and Master of Business Administration from the University of Louisville. She was also a previous member of UofL’s tenured faculty in the College of Business.
