Diane Medley appointed Executive Chairman

MCM CPAs & Advisors (MCM), one of the region’s largest accounting and consulting firms, has officially transitioned the Managing Partner role to Brad Smith, the firm’s former Assurance Services Team Leader. Smith, who has been with the firm for the past 17 years, takes the reins from Diane Medley, who will assume the role of Executive Chairman at MCM.

“We’ve been working together on this transition for the past year, and I’m eager to follow in the footsteps of our founders through a continued dedication to MCM’s core values and growth mindset,” said Smith. “The accounting profession is evolving, and we’re responding to those changes, but I want to ensure we’re always building on the strong foundation provided by our firm’s founders.”

In this role, Smith will lead the strategic direction of the firm for its nearly 350 employees who work across its five offices in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. He will steward MCM from a business perspective, lead client service and growth initiatives, and work with the firm’s partners and industry and service leaders to set and achieve short- and long-term objectives.

In her new role as Executive Chairman, Medley will remain with MCM full-time and continue to work with select clients, manage firm governance and lead several strategic initiatives. She will also take on a strategic leadership role with Meritrust Wealth Management, an MCM-affiliated financial services firm that Medley originally founded. She will continue to represent the firm through her community leadership across MCM’s footprint, primarily through her board memberships and leadership roles at the University of Louisville, One Southern Indiana, the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Ogle Foundation and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, among others.

Brad Smith has been with MCM since 2002. He is the former Assurance Services Team Leader, and his primary focus with clients is middle market growth-oriented companies in the manufacturing, distribution, services and construction industry niches.

Smith is the current Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, as well as a Member of the Greater Louisville Inc. Board of Directors and Finance Committee. He is a Board Member and former Chairman of the YMCA of Greater Louisville, a member of the University of Kentucky’s Von Allmen School of Accountancy Advisory Board, and an Emeritus Board Member of the Special Olympics Kentucky. He is the most recent recipient of the YMCA Spirit of Louisville Award, a graduate of both Leadership Louisville and Leadership Kentucky, and an alumnus of the University of Kentucky.

“I know that Brad will always have the best interest of MCM’s clients, partners and team members in the forefront of his vision and execution of strategy for the Firm,” said Medley. “He lives our core values of People Matter, Leaders Inspire and Excellence Rules and is selfless, hard-working and of the utmost integrity. We are truly blessed to have him stepping into the Managing Partner role.”
